Hellos i know i havnt been posting for a long time... Hehe now it's geog and im supposed to be researching for geog pt but someone *stare* is forcing me to post something.. So here i am :D Nothing to say lols... haha btw i jus read jenny's post i tink. Wow didnt know mr. goh was so gd. okay Jenny is making me post. Because we're in the library, supposedly working on our Geog PT (our teacher is Ms Pang) but i've already done my draft so i dun really have much to do now... heh so jenny is making me post. but it'll be quick cuz my other friend is threatening to shoot my head off (she's in shooting x.x) unless i hurry up. We're gonna play boxhead! xD heh.
So, this week no band xD On sunday right, my parents wanted to go watch the SIBF thingy, but the were problems with tickets (long story la :) ) so we didn't go. BUT we asked the ppl and they told me the the RGS band won division 1!!!! :D so that's how i found out. uber cool la.
Okay gotta go. My head is at risk x.x

ANYWAY..............
Here's a video of a different lady singing On My Own. Because seriously, this lady is proer. Lea Salonga. From the Phillipines. The first Asian ever to play Eponine (the girl from Les Miserables). Personally, I think Eponine should be standing alone when she sings this song, and the sets should make her look like she's really truly alone. Which is what I saw in London when I watch Les Mis there this year x) But this is an older version of the musical. Not necessarily in London.
The beginning is actually a part of the song. I get the feeling that they do this kind of thing for a lot of musical songs. Like Defying Gravity. In Glee, they just sing the song itself, but the original (in the musical, Wicked) has got this part at the start.

Hi.
If you all didn't know, I'm a stalker, so BEWARE. Haha. Anyway, I decided to google yet another person who is supposed to play a important, or a least a minor role in our lives as temporary musicians, to say the least. Guess who??? I'm sure you can tell from the picture lah.
It's small, but it'll easy to tell who. ANYWAYS, this is his accompanying paragraph of introduction or something.
Audi Goh studied the oboe with Joost Flach and Alix Pengili in Singapore before entering the Conservatoire National de Region de Boulogue Billancourt in Paris. There he studied the obo with Prof. Yves Poucel and was awarded Premier Prix unanimously by the jury at his graduation recital. Following which, he entered the Cycle Perfectionnement and studied further with Prof. Olivier D'oise at the Conservatoire du Paul Dukas.
Supposedly all the proper nouns above are famous. I think. I'm 99.9% sure.
So... what was I trying to say???
Basically, that sometimes, as much as we think he's wasting OUR time, we're pretty much wasting his time too. So yeah. Might as well do something good. Yay! :)
P.S. Our seniors got Gold (equal to or greater than 90.00%). I'm not sure if they got highest or anything, though. :)

HELLO~ YOU GUYS ROCK TTM! :D
today's band went well, didn't it (except for some parts *cough cough*)? ^^ we can really see a "definite improvement" (quote frm mr. goh himself haha xD). and the piece ON MY OWN sounded really really AWESHUM! :DDDD
so, mr. goh told us to listen to the song and hear the lyrics. so HERE i got this frm youtube for u guys! :D
the beginning few lines are just extra parts of the song, but listen to it anyways :)
the band playing isn't really obvious but it's there (it gets obvious at the end)! it's just that it's softer so the voice won't be drowned out :P it sounds a teeny weeny bit different from what we are playing but i THINK we can do a better job than that xD
the lyrics are so sad DD: the whole musical is so sad DD: i read the SHORTENED version of the story and i cried. lol over-emotional ._.
anyways, i hope that in future band sessions, EVERYONE of us can try our best to play well and pay attention during band (regardless of whether mr goh is in a bad mood or not:P)
pls pls pls:
-listen to his instructions and try to play ur instru to the best of ur instrus. and DON'T slack during indiv! (us clarinets got told off by our directs for slacking ._.)
-DON'T play ur instru or talk when mr goh is talking. i know it's going to be hard (esp when he's working on other instrus:P) but it's really annoying when there's somebody playing/talking while the conductor is trying to tell us smth. don't play when he don't tell us to!
thank u :) with ur cooperation, we will most probably learn more new songs as we will perfect our old songs faster! :D

Since this blog is going to be dead, I shall liven it. Or maybe with my boring self, dullen it. But well.
I hope most people are happy in band. I think. Those people who are not happy and want to quit CCA next year I understand that you are seeking your own passion and your own future. I just wish you all the luck you can have for the other auditions and if you decide to change, I'm sure Batch XIII will respect your decision. Just remember that you once had a group of girls playing in the band. Must remember us...
Secondly, sorry for the late follow-up, but 8/21 people HAVE NOT, handed in their forms for batch name. Please hand in, though I strongly suspect they don't even visit this blog or even know of the blog's existence! Please! And we kind of need to start planning whatever you want to do for September holidays. If you want it to be complicated and fun or something.

For the batch item, I mean. The later we do this, the less successful it'd be and the more our seniors will be let down. And ourselves too. I don't want that (both the seniors and us to be let down) So we have to decide. And we can't decide without the minority having to follow the majority. So everyone will respect everyone's opinions and we can begin. So now, the only options left are a mushytalk video (i.e. a video filled with mushy talk), a song-and-dance+violin/piano accompaniment if necessary, or a skit. Skit at this moment is hard, cause all the people i've asked can only think of imitating the sec 4s. Haha. And a last thing is the prize presentation, which will require least presentation, but may not fill up 15 minutes. Another thing is we can combine the presentation with mini-skits and videos. :):):)Yay! So have a happy weekend. With your Geog PT + History PT + Chem PT (for ppl taking chem) + ICT Assignment!

Ello :) Haiz I am being random..and I assume the previous post was by Jia Min?? :) but yeah I somewhat agree with her, so people, jiayous k? :) Oh And I heard that some ppl want to quit band cos of some random reasons but try not to k? :D Batch '13 won't be the same without YOU!!
About the Farewell '10, fyi it's two weeks +a few days away AND WE HAVEN"T DECIDED WHAT TO DO YET D: so?? I think some ppl should meet up on Fri/Sat/Sun to discuss about this EXTREMELY PROBLEMATIC ISSUE ohoh. Tomorrow got band??? o.o So.We.Are.Going.To.Be.Dead.Soon. YAY. ohwell, so the only ideas are..........
1. Viva La Vida??? (I kind of think this idea might NOT work. ONLY two weeks to practice=Almost definitely fail (as in no offence, but FACE IT PPL.) Ack sry if you think I'm too straightfoward. Cos' I am born to be xDDDD
2.Photo montage??? (Kind of boring leh....Nothing LIVE. Not very fun either...)
3. PPP in The Mysterious Ticking Noise??? (Hmmmm. can lah.. but we can't exactly do this over and over again. Ppl will fall asleep -.-")
4. Skit!!! (My favourite idea :DDD let's sort of integrate some ideas above into the skit ok? Then the skit won't be so boring or lame.)

Hi.
So this will be a serious post. Though all of mine are. Sorry if you don't agree, anyway if there is a post that'll get me hated for the rest of my life, it's probably this one.
So. Basically I think we are not doing enough as a batch. That's the main point.
I'm not sure if I'm right to think this, but I think if we had really taken into consideration EVERY WORD Mr Goh has said, I'm sure we won't be back to square one EVERY SINGLE WEEK. Every week we do the same piece over and over again. If we got something right last week, it just goes whoosh! and magically (abracadabra) disappears, when we play. I observe that of myself sometimes too, so it's not really a blame game. No matter what you feel about the teacher, as students, it is our job to at least strive for ourselves. Never mind the teacher, never mind the seniors, never mind the batchmates, before we think about any of them we NEED to CARE about is ourselves (sorry if it sounds wrong. as in it sounds selfish. the world is selfish. so there. besides, we should not be striving for meeting others' expectations, but for our own). Everything you do, you must strive to be the best, the best not in comparison to others, but the best you can be.
I suggest to avoid repeating the mistakes we could write on our scores (as long as it isn't the original) and it'd be easier for us to take notice of our previous mistakes. Furthermore, we can have a tiny notebook, maybe just one-side-printed paper cut into strips and folded and stapled into a minimini book then we can write down his comments for stuff like scales and such.
Then I personally find it rather hard to get everyone's responses towards a certain topic. I understand that you may be busy and so on, but come on, will going online for 5 minutes kill you??? Maybe it will. Will going to the class tray, just a short walk, to hand in a form, kill you? Only if you had a heart attack or something, I guess. That's beside the point. Just that I gave out the forms for batch name and not everyone has given me back though its wed and i requested it friday. So... ASAP, ok? We need to find ways to discuss, or make decisions regarding important stuff like THE FAREWELL OHTENNNNNNNNN. I don't know how, but I hope you 1. won't hesitate to voice out STRONG OBJECTIONS. 2. understand that sometimes we do have to make compromises, but all the same, everybody's input, be it negative or positive feedback, DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE. :) 3. no matter the final decision, put in our BEST.
Then, erm... during indiv, we really slack quite a lot, so we should practise more? And my personal take on practising as a band is that we are certain we can play our individual parts to the best we can, then as a band, when we play, we blend and it'll be faster to play the best we can as a band, as compared as unpolished parts coming as a whole. So before we play pieces we could make sure we are ready and don't hesitate to say you need more time. Sorry I wasn't that cooperative sometimes, but that's because I didn't feel we were ready to play. But next time I will try my best to understand and play. Sorry!
Lastly, (btw this is nothing to do with the above)
I want to say thank you for all those who have conferred with me, talked to me, assured me, and so on. Thank you for being there at least to talk to and listen. And I want to say sorry to whoever I have hurt with my words or actions. Sorry. Sorry you have to bear with me with the rest of the 3 1/2 years. Sorry I hurt you.

OKAY BATCH '13
Haha okay so we have to do farewell soon:( and we have barely half a month left! We gotta hurry up~ Okay like what Jenny posted, we might be using Viva La Vida cos its like a song practically all the sec 4s know. We also plan on finding out what the sec 4s performed for their inunion, and we might be to use it for...something?
Okay so the main ideas are:
(since some people object to skits and stuff, we tried to think of ideas that are as conservative as possible. )
-Singing the seniors names in the potter puppets tune, and load their pictures one by one.
-Game Show?
-Have a performance? (with our instruments?)
-Do a dance?
It would help if we could give more ideas! :)

our seniors + hwi soo went for the national band competition today. and guess what?
they won the GOLD WITH HONOUR AWARD :D
don't u feel very very very proud of them? :D
remember to tell the seniors + hwi soo gd job/congratz! :D
and i hope, that this will motivate us to strive harder and play better, so that we will not pull the band standards down when we join main band.

haha ctrl c and ctrl v frm my blog again xD
there was band today. before band us sec 1 band members (not all though -.-) met up at our batch corr to discuss about what we are going to do for the farewell ceremony in august for our sec 4s. we kept on digressing xP haha only 1 thing was really confirmed: we'r doing a skit.
in the middle of our discussion, a sec 3 flutist, duoni, walked through us (note that i used the word "through" as we were blocking the whole corridor and had to make way for her to get pass xD) she asked if we sec 1s came here really early or what? we replied we were having batch bonding (it was sorta true xD) she said "oh, that's good!" and went off. aft a while, she came back and said "i feel like joining u guys." and sat down with us. ~awkward silence~ but that was only for a short moment. we continued with our discussion and duoni was like "oh! u guys are discussing about the farewell ceremony right? ok so i shall leave u in peace." (or something along those lines XD)
today there was General Ability Test for the p6 students who want to get into rgs. (i saw shiv's sister xD) the test was held in the hall and because we were waiting at our batch corr, which is just outside the hall, we were chased away o.o
nothing much happened during direct-taking today. it was only when we had our individual practice (our directs went off for instructor prac) that interesting stuff happened. however i shall not reveal whatever we did during that period for some reasons XD
i think joanne's speech today was nice and inspiring, don't u think so too? ^^
haha ok i'm done with my post.

I'M BACK!! :D did any of u miss me? teehee sorry for the MIA status. i was a bit busy/lazy :P
actually, i hav no idea what to talk about....hmmm....
on wednesday, i had auditions. actually it's just an assessment but our directs called them auditions to scare us? lol. anyways, they tested us on the exercises that we'v been taught so far, 3rd exercise, 4th exercise, tonguing, long notes, june juice etc etc...
and....i died miserably.
i screwed everything up. actually, the scales they chose were quite easy. but still, i screwed it all up. i suck ttm. argh.
oh and has any of u learnt tuning yet? i suck at it too....i really don't know how to change my embouchure. i mean, how do u loosen or tighten it?
gosh.
and about batch lunch....i'm sure everyone knows about it by now.....only 10 ppl came. but at least it's about half of the batch.
and i'm really pissed off (sorry) when i see that some ppl are hardly caring about the batch. and to those shps ppl, i'm sorry i didn't go to visit shps with u guys but after all, batch lunch was organised first so it comes first, yeah. if we had decided to go shps before we decided on batch lunch, i would hav gone to shps.
and sorry, sarah, for still being pissed at u for not going to batch lunch even though u were the one who organised this thing.
