I miss y'all very muchlys and it sucks how we don't get to talk to each other as often :-( still glad we get to interact with each other during band concerts and such, when we'll gather and listen to good band music and feel the same emotions hehe like how we recently met during Bandemonium III :-)

Hope life will be good to you this year! Two more days till school reopens, make the best out of your holidays as I will! ♡  Stay calm and cool and we will beat the crap out of A levels (in a good way) haha. See you guys soon!

hey guys! :-)

Haha it's 1am now and I'm chionging some work and stuff and just for memories' sake it's been about 1.5 hours since we've heard that MO can only come for 1 hour tomorrow (or today rather lol). Hmm just wanna say that even though it's 1 hour and it's freaking short and we don't even get a proper last practice, look on the bright side of things; at least we get 1 hour! What if he said he couldn't make it we would just collapse and die in one another's arms or something.

------

Okay hi guys. Edit: it's 10pm on the following night; despite all the crazy stuff that happened yesterday night leading up to MO's farewell this afternoon, I guess it's fair enough to say that RGSSB really spent our last time with him together well (: with our juniors baking him the cakes and choosing the songs for the party, and then us organising it and getting so panicked over everything (esp. Huiru dear hope you're alright now ((:) Really really regret not having a proper last practice with him though. But thank you all for chipping in and stuff like Clara and present comm for the amazing gift!!

It's so hard to believe that we're in Y4 now. Okay it's even harder to believe that in 3 days, we'll be saying our goodbyes and stepping down. Gah. I can still remember looking at our seniors' blogs and wondering when we'll reach that cool superior standard they always seemed to have. Haha. Time flies so fast I cannot. Y'all have been the most amazing batch ever and please please please stick together forever (okay maybe not haha forever is.......really long) but yeahh don't forget each other AND ME and I think in our time as top batch we've really done so much for the band? And now we should give our support to Batch '14 though I really really think they have amazing potential and can lead the band well despite all the huge changes and stuff (like new conductor, change of EXCO roles etc).

Btw I'm really sad I don't want to take dismissal on Monday )':

And it's so annoying how we have exams the following day ): ): ):

But yeah. Bye guys, jiayous with mugging and have a great long weekend!

Batch! :)

I shall do a post-SYF post. I really have mixed feelings on SYF being over, I'm glad that SYF's over but there's this tugging feeling in my heart because it really means that our RGSSB journey is nearly over. We will never work that hard for a performance anymore because SYF'13 is really the highlight of 2013 and after open house, national day, it's goONnaaA be farewell ohmahgerd.

And on getting Distinction -- YAY :) thank you all so much for making this last SYF'13 so memorable, (what we were doing before the results came out : >) I swear my heart was going to explode when i refreshed that darn syf page and scrolled all the way down to Band #110 RAFFLES GIRLS' SECONDARY DISTINCTION and i really screamed and cried when i found out we got distinction. I mean if you guys didn't you are stones. But then later that day, i realised that whatever we get shouldn't matter as much (I mean getting distinction is like an added bonus you know. BUT it's not the main point), the main point is that we don't need 6 judges to define us, we aren't a distinction, accomplishment, commendation band, we're RGSSB :') and that's what really matters.

It has been an amazing SYF journey with RGSSB'13, and i'm so proud of all of us for enduring the 6 months of practice, filled with blood, sweat, tears and saliva. And making the mere 15 minutes on stage worthwhile, thank you so much :) i love you all, you guys are amazing.

yo batch:

[I actually came online with the intention of starting on my geog aa/getting some stuff done before going to sleep by 12am but got distracted by multiple stuffs (such as SYF-related tweets, Facebook posts, online presents from juniors etc) Oh wells.]

Really haven't posted here for so long! I miss how pretty our batch blog is: The pale yellow background, the colorful illustration on the left, the CLARINET!, our cbox that's forever filled with spam that never seems to go away despite my multiple times of deleting those messages/reporting spam/banning those users ._.

Listening to our SYF'11 recordings now! (And trying to imagine how Imperatrix and Sarabande will sound like on stage tomorrow hehe.) Ahh the memories :') Those were back in the days when our (up) directs were still with us and we were still carefree little sec2s (haha). Look at us now - top batch, and up-directs to our juniors! We've really come a looong way since then(:

Thank you guys so much for all the support and encouragement we have given each other these past few months, and to our band, most importantly. (PS. I really really think our batch makes a good top batch! Truly grateful for batchmates like y'all :') ) Let's play our hearts out and make the best of our (possibly) last stage performance tomorrow!

Hey guys!!

I was going to blog about band camp on my blog but then because I kinda linked up this batch blog to my personal account then I realised SOMEONE POSTED RECENTLY (at least after the last time I posted on my own blog.......which wasn't TOO far away hehe) yay for Yany!

Anyway SYF is coming up. Yep. And after band camp (which was so exhaustingly fun but seriously I think it was really really good kudos to everyone who helped out in one way or another!!!) I guess it did help bring our batch closer, catch up with each other more, and even more so between our individual sections! (meh we wanted to go for section dinner but.........idk what happened) And personally all the superlong practices were really helpful (but today's 4 hours prac was killer ._.).

At first I didn't know what to post, but to keep it really short and simple, here's a qtpie drawing I found on tumblr:

Don't think the picture really makes much sense in terms of band la but maybe you can say that this was in the perspective of MO, so he will pick up the pieces (us) aka commenting, improving our sound as a whole (the house!!) and making it colourful and pretty like the words LEGO on the picture :D so PAY YOUR FULLEST ATTENTION DURING BAND PRACTICE make the most of what we have; I'll admit that I was really half-dead during band practice today but I will try to improve and not feel so tired somehow or other haha, and I WILL improve. :D

That didn't make much sense so anyway with more relation to games during band camp just now, LEG(G)O GUYS. 10 days more we can do it :) :) :)

With much loveeeeeeeee ♥,
xy

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Hey guys!
I have to admit this is my first time posting -- I don't blog at all and I have just been lazy.  Hehe. And I just got reminded of the batch blog by a comment by Jia Min on facebook.

I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE ITS 2013 and term 1 has flew by so quickly. SYF is coming really really soon, I am not mentally and musically prepared, and I guess all of you probably feel the same way! Huiru told me the balloting for the SYF timeslots were yesterday; we'll probably know our this week.  Haha I remember the last time Kylie and I got to know our SYF timing was when we were at the Batam immigration XD that was two years ago. And I remember two years ago our directs telling Huiru and I that our batch will be leading SYF '13; its seemed so faraway then but its like right in our face now. Anyway, there's only about 3 weeks left to SYF and we should try to encourage/inspire the band in this last lap since we're top batch!

I really like this quote-- we shouldn't practise just for the sake of practising but we must find meaning in them. Sarabande is actually quite beautiful ~ (compared to singapore flyer ahahaha. But Singapore flyer was nice in its own way too) Okay I sound like I'm joking but I hope y'all experienced that AHHH feeling when you play the SYF pieces, be it Imperatrix or Sarabande.

Whatever it is, lets do our best ya! (quote Jia Min from the previous post) Come on bandemonium LETS DO THISSS <3 nbsp="" p="">

hey batch!

I'm sorry for hardly ever posting ): I just.....keep forgetting the user/password and then I have to dig through my old emails to search for the email that Jia Min sent super long ago ahahahah :D

Anyway, yes as Jia Min said, we're going to be top batch soon! I'm frankly very apprehensive, but I guess it's time for us to step up and lead the band well (: I think it's going to be one crazy year, with all the sec 4 workload and stuff, but together as a batch, I trust that we will be able to handle it. ^^

Ultimately, I hope we as a batch can put in our all and do all our seniors proud! It's not just the exco or the bm+dm+sc that plays a major role, I think that the whole top batch is super super important in guiding the direction of the band. And also since we're top batch, our juniors will be looking up to us as a role model, so your attitude towards band will really shape their mindsets as well :D

Haha I sound so naggy but I'm actually really excited for top batch as well. (we get to play each other's instrus!! :D but that's not the point la :P) I'm sure that with each other's support, we'll bring rgssb to greater heights (((:

HEY BATCH ♥

really REALLY surprised at the lack of Cadenza-related posts here because WELL aren't we known for our rantings? XD ok maybe not but still....

Y U NO POST HERE TOO /insert meme

Cadenza was.... idk, perfect? ♥ Ok not in terms of playing, not at ALL (because we've got a lot to catch up on since our playing as a band as a whole right now is really not up to standard), but in terms of fun, enjoyment, engagement, enthusiasm, etc etc IT WAS CHARMINGLY BEAUTIFUL!

my vocabulary is failing me (*has been failing me, since Cadenza blew my mind away last night 8D) so pardon this weird mush of inappropriately-put adjectives BUT YOU GET IT RIGHT, SINCE YOU GUYS WERE ALL THERE (':

ok, all in all, Cadenza was one of the most memorable performances of my life... and this is out of all the different types of performances I've ever been in. And I cannot canNOT CANNOT EXPRESS MY THANKS AND APOLOGIES TO THE WHOLE BAND FOR PUTTING UP WITH ME. Oh my god, you guys could have forgotten about me and just went on with the performance without giving me the attention I so shamelessly attracted )-: but I couldn't believe all the help I received last night, ESPECIALLY from my beloved batch (': seriously guys, I couldn't have made it onto stage without your help and encouragement. Super thankful to my SBM (I LOVE YOU SI HUI SOBS), my batch and my section for all the help because OH MY GOD I couldn't have done it at all omg omg omg ♥ SO MUCH LOVE AND THANKS AND APOLOGIES AND EVERYTHING I AM SO SORRY FOR BEING A BOTHER )':

I noticed that we might be one of the smallest batches in the history of RGSSB (our directs' batch being the smallest ofc) but we really couldn't have been more enthusiastic and happy to be in this CCA (': I'm really appreciative of that... I couldn't have asked for a better batch!

thank you for the memories last night; I hope I'll never forget what happened during Cadenza XIII ♥ I really don't know what else to say because my apologetic feelings are clouding my mind and preventing me from coming up with anything other than I'M SORRY I'M SORRY I'M SORRY so I'll just end off with... I'm sorry )': And thank you for everything! ♥

LOL (lots of love, lmao), devni ♥

Batchies:
woah blogger has changed so much! I haven't been on it in ages O:
and I haven't been posting/active here either, I'm so sorry D: but I figured if there's any time I should post, it should be now.
So! Cadenza is in 4 days (and 3 pracs)!  Basically, I think that in terms of stamina and technique, there isn't really that much we can do in 4 days, but that being said, listening to the comments by Mr Oura about articulation and dynamics can really make a huge difference to a song. Because even if we hit the high notes and play all the correct notes and rhythm, it really isn't complete without the details! Articulation and dynamics and just feeling for the song can really turn a boring/ monotonous piece into one where the audience feels for the piece and loves the music that we are playing (: And of course, while we practice very hard for the last few days, we must also remember to really appreciate and enjoy the music! ^^
Also! Take care of yourselves okay!!! It would be really sad if you practice so hard for so many months then in the end fall sick before cadenza and cannot perform D: So yes! Drink more water and don't overblow/injure your lips and SLEEP EARLY even though we have all sorts of projects to complete! O:
Let us walk off that stage with no regrets :D

A Fun Rehearsal Happens When...
Wednesday, April 25, 2012

hi again guys XD
read this post written by Mr. Yim, our new recruits band conductor and clarinet instructor and thought it was quite meaningful((: so sharing with you guys.

the original link is here.

---

… fellow musicians say hi to me, or give me a nod or a smile in my direction when I enter the rehearsal studio. This is important to me, and probably every one else, because it means that my presence is important to the rehearsal; and that I, like everybody, is essential to the music making process when it happens at rehearsals.

I feel happy when I see that the attendance is good, especially when everybody is present. This signals for me, that I will be able to experience the full ensemble sound, something that ought to be consistently heard during at the preparatory stages towards making a successful concert. Being present shows your respect for fellow musicians, and the acknowledgement that it is a logistic challenge to gather sixty-odd musicians in one room at the same time for making music together.

I will be delighted to know that all my fellow musicians are punctual. Often, too little time is available to work out every detail in the music that we play. Therefore, every second counts. Being punctual means that I, together with everybody can make full use of the three hours of rehearsal. We do not have to waste time waiting for tardy people, shortening the music making experience we can get. It is even more delighting, when I hear fellow musicians doing individual warm-up routines before the actual rehearsal begins. Warming up helps us get into the best state for a good rehearsal. Making good sounds from our instruments, with good intonation, with good sensitivities is possible only through proper warming up.

The conductor takes the podium, and begins the ensemble warmup. It is during this time, we get adjusted to other musicians, weening out the intonation differences and attempting to ease into an ensemble pulse, melding into one organism called the band, or orchestra. Twenty minutes should be all it takes for every musicians to sync with one another, achieving good blend, good balance and good ensemble-ship.

The first notes of the music begins. We run through the music. It is heartwarming to know that my fellow musicians have prepared for the rehearsal. We have studied our rhythms, our notes, the dynamics, the different articulations, considered the stylistic nuances, worked through difficult fingerings, eliminated most intonation problems, and we try to bring our own interpretations to the music. Yes, the ensemble may not sound musically united at this point, but everybody is trying to play the best that they can. We present our musicianship to the conductor, who can now direct our efforts towards his interpretations. The music begins to take shape as we work out the balance, blend, interpretations, phrasing, style under the conductor’s directions. Where the painter paints with his colors on his canvas with various strokes; musicians paint with sound as our color, with time as our canvas, and our unified interpretations as the strokes. This is music making at its best! Everyone is paying attention, not only to their own parts, but to others’ too, figuring out the ways they can maximize the effectiveness of their own parts to build the great works that composers have written for us.

After three hours of pure music making especially when we end off with some epic grand finales, we will be tired, both physically and mentally. It’s time for the musicians to mingle around. Compliments are mutually exchanged, congratulations on a good rehearsal is exchanged, doubts are clarified with the conductor, suggestions and advices are exchanged, a little more individual practicing happens here and there to work out the stubborn parts, and some will group together to play some chamber pieces before everybody packs up. An after rehearsal meal will generally be a sweet way to end of the day before we head back to our own businesses.

Through this sharing, I hope to encourage musicians in Singapore, and perhaps worldwide, to fight for good rehearsals, and to experience music making at the highest levels possible. When it happens, the experience is simply exhilarating.

here are some nice words from our own batchmates

as promised(; for remembrance sake (too)!

Joyce: I suppose we all know what we had/have to do yeah, let's just take this as a reality check sigh. Remember all that was told today and lets make not only cadenza but our entire band journey successful^^ Work hard, everyone. ♥

XinYing: jiayous everyone and put in the effort RGSSB deserves of you, enjoy the music and let's make it a successful Cadenza (: ♥

Devni: let's be serious here… from now until the end of Cadenza (and beyond), let's work as hard as we can, because we're not going to make this successful if we're not glued together as a band, and being a good section isn't the only way to start.

Huiru: I trust that everyone in our batch has been working hard- it's really really the last lap so let's all double our efforts!...JIAYOUUUU everyone and let's walk off the stage with no regrets (:

Thengyi: GOGOGO we can do this!! Keep hoping and keep on practising. I'm sure no one will regret putting in just a bit more effort because that little effort when put together may just wow you:)

Kylie: If we really want Cadenza to be a success, we cannot just talk and cry and mope and not do anything. ...I feel like we have to step up and do whatever it takes. Cause I (and all of you as well, I'm sure) really really want our first and only cadenza to be something to be remembered fondly forever ♥ SO DON'T JUST TALK AND CRY AND EMO AND RANT. START DOING SOMETHING.

SiHui: just thought i wanted to share a quote (sort of) from vivian :) "You're responsible for your own music!" So yeah no matter how mo and our seniors keep pushing us forward, if we dont put in effort/ double our efforts, nothing is going to change. Whatever comes out of our instrus is what WE define and can change. So yep jiayous for Cadenza bandemonium!

I love you guys :')

PS: why does blogger look so weird.

only when you look at a glass window in the dark can you see a reflection.
Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Alright, let's accept everything that has happened today. As Ms Lam said, everything can be taken positively (okay that was a bit of an inference) but my point is that it is only when you are in a moment of darkness, when someone switched off the lies that were deceiving you all along, that you can truly see yourself. And what you've been doing. Or more importantly, what you haven't. Hence the cryptic title.

I'm just going to record down everything I thought of today for remembrance's sake. Not everything, but things. So

1. Don't do things you know you will regret. I think this is something everyone is guilty of. So often, we have discovered: I should have done this, or, I should have done that. But the point is why didn't you do it then? In fact that question isn't really an accusation, but maybe if we could answer the question, it would help us to understand ourselves and make a change. Anyway, my point is (sorry for being so beat-around-the-bush): make every moment count. Know that every minute you spend in band, you're making good use of your time. You are not wasting your time, you are not slacking (even if you rest think about stuff as you rest), you are not spending your time in a way you know one day you will regret. And I think if we can do that, simply MAKE EVERY MOMENT COUNT, we can make a lot of difference. Not just in band, but in our lives.

Kay sorry I don't think that made a lot of sense. :( But it makes some sense. Then you can take it in whatever sense thou wilt. (RnJ?)

2. Use your anger to make good what's wrong. Yup basically chope from Laura Lee's speech lah, but I think the message she imparted was very powerful: that anger can be "channelled to a higher purpose" to make good in our community what we have realized needs to be changed. Yup so today, don't feel disappointed, don't feel discouraged, instead use all our guilt (which is in its basic form anger toward ourselves) to push ourselves forth and if not make good, make better the undesirable situation we have found (and created) for ourselves.

3. Respect yourself. It's our/your DUTY to impact our audience. I think now it's not so much about leaving a good impression, it's about doing something you are proud of. Since band is already a part of our lives, why are we not making it a part of our lives we are proud of? Why do we choose to give less when we can gain so much more when we give more? :) Okay forget about respecting yourself. It's a bit out of point. Whoops.

4. Love band. I don't know, but this always helps. Love is powerful. I mean, I think the reason we started to hate/be angry with ourselves, it all came from love right? When we witnessed/experienced everyone's love for band, our open expression of love, our own love, it was so powerful most of us really didn't know what to say. :( Caught speechless. Anyway, use your love for band to inspire yourself to achieve whatever you set out to achieve. And make a difference to others with that love.

5. Dare. I think all of us learn along the way. And daring to make mistakes is the best attitude to have towards learning. That's what I think luh. So DARE. Try things out and improve every time you try it again. Dare to play loudly (and risk being too loud but you learn!), dare to play the rhythm (and risk being wrong since it's sight-reading, but the second time it won't be!), simply dare, and that would make all the difference.

6. Dream. This is essentially an extension of daring, since you have to dare to dream to dream. Dare to believe that you can be better. Dare to set goals for yourself that you never imagine you can achieve but that you want to, with fervor. Dream as in know what you want to hear before you play. Dream as in imagine the most beautiful sound your instrument could possibly produce. Dream that your music can make the audience cry. Dream all that you once undreamt simply because it was too far away. Because, time and time again, we have proven to ourselves (in other areas, perhaps?), we can do. so. much.

On another note, I've never really thought of Cadenza as something we have to do exceptionally well. In fact I just got reminded today it's our only Cadenza. I think we shouldn't treat this extra seriously simply because it's our only Cadenza, or because we are seniors, or because idk! All the strange and somewhat irrelevant reasons we have to take this seriously? We should treat this seriously simply because we are not doing what we know we can!

To end off, sorry this quote won't be very nice (as in politically correct) to have but anyway here's (an excerpt? sounds strange) from my blog:

"A nice quote today:

“The Trombone is the only instrument that in theory can play in perfect tune, but in practice never does.” -Sokrates, March 17, 421 B.C.
Nice cause I think it applies to so many things, and sometimes, things don't need to be as perfect as they can be. Cause that gap between perfection and non-perfection will be filled up by something else. And maybe that makes more of a difference than achieving perfection."

(not from my blogpost) On a sidenote, I think that gap surfaced today, and don't you think we learn so much more from such moments than when easy success comes? And it is moments like this that make that gap to perfection that little bit smaller. :)

Not really not related. Just not appropriate to be put here. Yupp. Okay and yes jiayous for the year ahead and we WILL be awesome directs to our awesome juniors! Andand we must all remember that when the going gets tough the tough gets going so even if this year in band is more stressful than usual just take it in your stride, don't stress, sleep early and play well! (:

Btw do any of you feel a certain sense of...reminiscence? when we got our directs. Can you imagine that happened to us only two years ago? :o

Haha yeah. Yay! :D Goodnight all. ((((:

Don't you think this song means so much/a little more now? :)

As you go through life you'll see
There is so much that we
Don't understand
And the only thing we know
Is things don't always go
The way we planned
But you'll see every day
That we'll never turn away
When it seems all your dreams come undone
We will stand by your side
Filled with hope and filled with pride
We are more than we are
We are one
If there's so much I must be
Can I still just be me
The way I am?
Can I trust in my own heart
Or am I just one part
Of some big plan?
Even those who are gone
Are with us as we go on
Your journey has only begun
Tears of pain, tears of joy
One thing nothing can destroy
Is our pride, deep inside
We are one
We are one, you and I
We are like the earth and sky
One family under the sun
All the wisdom to lead
All the courage that you need
You will find when you see
We are one

HELLLLLLLLO!

Let's congratulate Huiru for becoming class chair! AND EVERY ONE OF US FOR BEING DEPLOYED FOR EVENTS THIS YEAR! it's gonna be a great year!

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I have nothing much to say lah, but especially as Cadenza is getting closer and closer, and the songs are like coming really slowly (but cadenza's in early may this year!), PLEASE WORK ESPECIALLY HARD! Don't waste practice time, don't procrastinate, don't wait to start, cause you don't have to be great to start, but you have to start, to be GREAT! :D:D (my january quote in my calendar) And also listen to Mr Oura! I think our attention level is actually not bad luh, but listen also cannot go in one ear and come out of the other like xiaohaibuben! must listen properly! for some/most of us actually, our practice time is already gonna get a bit eaten up by direct-taking! so right, WE MUST WORK LIKE 300% (or for my case, 302% :) SMARTER AND FASTER! Basically come up with a goal for band prac/sectionals every week/day and go all out to achieve it! And every note you play is gonna be expected to be the best note you can. pretend you are going solo in front of the entire world! like you're on TV every moment you are playing your instru!!! mmhmmmmmmmmm. YEAH it's also really important to play well so you can demo to your juniors >< properly.

YUPPPPPPPPPPPPP. Work hard, Play hard, Study hard, Lead well, Care, but must enjoy yourself! don't stress kay bye!

Hello batch! Why is this blog so dead T___T

Haha, I know that a few batchies have already posted about Sec3/ 2012, but I felt that this issue should be highlighted!

Yupp lol the title says it all. I'm really frightened by the prospect of getting Sec1s to take care of for two whole years. I mean, it's kind of extreme, the way that we're expected to 'mentor' (a) junior(s) until the time we graduate (and maybe beyond that). And the fact that their interest in band, their passion in music, and their eventual bond to the CCA is all in our hands is a BIG duty scares me.

I feel that we shouldn't just wait for them to appear, then expect ourselves/ our SBs to somehow teach/ mentor them without a proper plan; that's why I find what the Clars are doing is a great idea.

So basically I was poking around in the batch corr before band started one day (like I always do when y'all ignore me tsktsk) and I saw in Joyce's hands a piece of paper with a lot of words. I spotted 'June Juice' and idk, some other things so I kpo-ed and asked her what it was (like I always do when y'all ignore me tsktsk). Turns out it was a plan! For what they were going to do when they get their directs! /dramatic gasp and drumroll

Okay maybe they're not the only ones doing that and we're the only SB that has been ignorant and stupid. Pssh. But well I thought I should just be happy and silly and share this with you guys who are as nervous and lost as I am and want to start out up-directing (does that sound right .___.) right.

So go go go! Spread the love and cheer! :D /gets bricked

Okay okay, joking aside, we should all do something of that sort, to prep ourselves for this. Lol I sound like we're preparing for a war TTATT but well it's a really smart idea, yeah? x)

Need to do the Candenza Camp proposal now 8D SEE YA GUISE MONDAY! ♥

Hey batch!

Our blog isn't really dead but the people who come here and tag aren't anyone from our batch LOL. Haha anyways HAPPY EARLY-BY-ONE-HOUR-THIRTY-FIVE-MINUTES CHINESE NEW YEAR GUYS hope you have a good break ;D

We're going to get directs in like less than one month which is rather freaky. I mean, can you still remember us sitting on the floor two years ago being introduced to our up-directs and being shown their faces and everything? Two years. So fast. Another two years and we'll be in JC, and our lives in RGSSB will be just a memory. So yes we should treasure our time now and make the best of it! Jiayous for Cadenza and everything (idk why I'm talking about Cadenza there's still quite a few months)! Yay!

We should start meeting up at the batch corr too in the mornings for fun! We've been talking about this since last year but it still hasn't materialised ._.

On a seperate note, yall should go and watch Doctor Who (:

ehhh jenny see we take turns! (haha whoops more like i got inspiration from you but...)
I think we should have 12 resolutions for 2012 (since two thousand and twelve seems like too many and cause or else i have nothing to post about haha) :

11. play every note/piece (during indiv, practice, sectionals, comps, performances, all the time) to the best of our ability (i.e. go farther than you imagine; dream big, and work to achieve bigger!)
12. hahaha i can't think of many more so: DON'T LAUGH DURING FOOTDRILLS. no matter how funny it is to stare at someone else's face, or spectacles dropping down, or hearing out-of-place lefts or hentaking cause we met an obstacle, or well...stuff I shall decline to mention.

haha. is all!

and of course, all the best for year 3! may we all exceed our expectations/limits in the coming year, while having/finding fun in everything we do! :)

:D

our batch item went well! :D considering that we barely rehearsed before then. thank you to everyone who wrote the script, made the props/costumes, directed and helped in any other way! :D our skit was so cool luh BD

ok, for memories' sake, i'm going to post our script here! XD

Narrator: A long time ago, there lived two little bees…who didn’t really like each other.

RGB: Hello everybody! Or should I say, everyboBEE? Hehehehe! I’m the RG bee!

SSB: Don’t listen to her lameness. I’m the SS bee, the BEEST bee in the world!

RGB: No, I’m the better bee!

SSB: Am not!

RGB: Am too!

Narrator: They were the only living creatures on the planet they lived on, and felt their existence had a greater purpose than quarrelling with each other all day long. One day just as a gust of wind blew towards them…

Chorus: (blow like the wind!)

Narrator: the bees heard a voice.

The Voice: (music play here!) “Jupiter… Jupiter… Jupiter,”

Narrator: - It seemed to be saying, then it went, as quickly, as it came. The bees decided that this was a sign; something inside told them that ‘Jupiter’ was the place for them. They had to go there. Thus they set out to find this mysterious place. (music stop)

SSB: (singsong voice) I’m going to reach there first!

RGB: No, I am! (push SSB aside and fly off)

SSB: Hey! D< You cheater!

(Bees flies away from planet and into outer space)

SSB: I see a planet up ahead! Is it Jupiter?

RGB: Me first!

(flies toward planet and sees 2 dancing wolves there)

RGB: Wow, there are other *ahem* biologically alive organisms here!

SSB: I think this is it! *looks around, sees the wolves, then calls out to them* Hey, is this Jupiter?

Wolf 1: Nope, but you are most welcome to stay here with us!

RGB: Hmm, I am tired. No harm in staying.

SSB: I hate to say this but I agree with you. Alright, we’ll stay here and dance for a while!

(music play here!) (the 3 wolves and the bee dance here!)

Narrator: Over the next few days, the bees danced and made many new friends. At the same time, they also fostered their friendship with each other and BEEcame the BEEst of friends! (music stop)

RGB: Let’s start over! I’m RGbee.

SSB: And I’m SSBe. Together,

RGSSB: We’re the RGSSBees!

Narrator: They learnt many new skills, taught by an adult bee called Mr. Odd Ego. They had great fun but one day, they knew it was time for them to leave this warm and friendly place, and go to Jupiter, their ultimate destination.

Mr. Odd Ego: RGSSBees, you have had fun, but all play and no work makes Jill a dull girl! It is time for you two to leave this place. When you reach Jupiter, you will have to find the Inn of Sixth Happiness, for that is where you will receive Ultra Music Power. Good luck! The journey is long, but I am sure with each other, both of you will be able to do it. As a last parting gift, I present you two with this rare item called the RAYSPEC. (hands over rayspecs) These specials specs have a very important role to play in your journey ahead. Make use of them wisely. Good luck and farewell, young ‘uns. (waves hand solemnly in parting)

(RGSSBees looks at gift in wonderment then sets off, crying buckets of tears....)

Wolves: (to RGSSBee) Bye-bye! Good luck! (blow loud kisses...like MUACKKKKKK)

(Mr. Odd Ego and bees exit; RGSSBees continues on its journey)

SSB: Wow, this is so exciting. Ultra Music Power sounds so....

RGB: awesome! If we can go to Jupiter, then we can BEEcome a famous buzzician!

RGSSBees: Buzz buzz buzz.

SSB: I do wonder what Jupiter will be like though... (flies off in random direction)

Narrator: On their way to Jupiter...the RGSSBees hear the voice again.

The Voice: Good. You have demonstrated an incredible aBEElity: to make friends and to be willing to learn from others. In your next test, remember to be wary of things that will distract you from your quest.

RGSSBees: Oh my goodness!!!! WE. ARE. SO. VERY. SCARED. (a bit of buffer time here please for mike passing)

(Suddenly, a huge, dark creature (the phantom) appears) (music play here!)

RGSSBees: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

RGB: Wh... Who are you? Please don’t hurt us. (music stop)

Phantom: (sings in a loud soprano voice) The PHAAAAA~NTOM OF THE OPERA IS HERE! (stop abruptly) not inside your mind though.

SSB: Now, if you’ll excuse us...

Phantom: I know where you’re going. (wise old guru nod)

SSB: You do? Then you’d know that we’re in a horrible rush to get there too. (jiggly feet)

Phantom: Oh, a horrible rush to get to a horrible place? I’d rather spare you the agony. Jupiter is a ridiculous place where everyone is equal, and equally dumb and stupid. Dumb and stupid enough not to fight to be the best, or fight for money, or wealth, or to be king. (starts singing in the tune of “if you’ll ever find, a moment, …... (“think of me”) Why not come with me and find fame, money and glory? If you’ll come with me, then you’ll become the next queen beeeeeeee.

RGB: (in a softer voice...thinking) Fame, money, and glory...sounds good to me. After all, aren’t all great musicians famous?

Phantom: (happy mysterious smile)What’s more! my planet is filled with honey stars!

Chorus: (takes out stars and start bobbing)

RGB: And honey, glorious, glorious, honey!

Chorus: (wind blow)

SSB: (to RGB) But what had that voice said? To be wary of distractions, I hear? Food, money, glory, and fame. Those are not what makes a musician. A musician is someone who really really loves music, and not because of money.

RGB: Or glory.

SSB: Or fame.

RGB: (nods) You’re right! I’m sorry, phantom, but we have to go now. We want to BEEcome good musicians.

(music play here!)

SSB: That sounds really Famila(r)!

RGB: Oh gee! Or should I say, oh bee! I remember now! Mr Goh was telling us about the dangerous bells of Sagrada Familia that suck bees, twist their minds and absorb all the june juice inside their brains!

SSB: After that, the bees are kept for a centuri-on (century on) The Planet That Shall Not Be Named. What shall we do now?!

Chorus: (wind blow)

The Voice: Always remember: No dream journey comes without a nightmare. In your quest to achieve your dream, never succumb to nightmares. Never give up in the face of failure.

RGB: Oh dearie dearie bee! I can feel it! Life is being sucked from me! Life sucks!

SSB: O woe, O woeful, woeful day! Alack, alack that Heaven should practise strategems upon as lowly subjects as ourselves! O unhappy fortune! O woeful day!

Chorus: (wind blow. WOEEEEEE ~WOEEEE~)

RGB: But no! When life hands you the bells of Sagrada Familia, you bbb--RING them down!! (strikes a warrior pose and say “HA.” in that macho voice)

Mr. Odd Ego’s Voice (to be voiced by The Voice but in a different voice): These special specs have a very important role to play in your journey ahead

SSB: Oh yeah! We need rayspec to continue fruitfully on our journey! Rayspec!! RESPECT! (both bees whips out specs and put them on.)

(RGSSBees are no longer being sucked. Sounds of bells tone down and dissipate.)(music stop!)

Voice: Good job RGSSBees! You now know the importance of RAYSPEC. Remember that respect is needed for success in life!

RGB: YESSSS WE ROCK! Hooray! Goodness bee, I think I see Jupiter finally! (flies off and lands on Jupiter)(music play here!)

Alien on Jupiter: Why have you landed on this great planet’s grand majestic big red dot? What sort of place are you from, to not know a simple rule of not stepping onto the home of our honourable, majestic, grand, great, awesome general king bee! (music stop)

SSB: We’re from Singapore.

Alien: Oh! then you two must beeeeee the SINGAPORE FLYERS! (music play here!)

RGB: Well...I suppose you could call us that. (music stop) But really, we’ve come in search of the Inn of Sixth Happiness. (music play here!)

Alien: Oh that is the humble abode of our royal majesty, Mr. Pimple! He was named after our planet’s big red spot. Ahem, I mean, pimple.

SSB: So...how can we go into the inn?

Alien: This is the Inn! And that is Mr. Pimple over there, who will now grant you your most favourable wish.

Mr. Pimple: (walks over) Hello newcomer! Welcome to my rather humble abode! What do you want from me! Is it ten thousand servants to help fill your pots with everlasting honey? Or a grand hive with a hundred golden chandeliers hanging from the ceiling? Seeing as both of you have come a long way, your wish is my command. (music stop!)

RGB: Oh no, but we are undeserving of such wealth and importance!

SSB: We seek only Ultra Music Power, and that is more than what we deserve.

Mr Pimple: Well well well! (music play here!) Seeing as you are such humble little bees, I shall hereby bestow upon you the ultra extreme wonderful great MUSIC POWER! (music stop) Use this special gift wisely, and remember the ultimate meaning in being a musician is in bringing joyance (music play here!) to the audience, while having fun at the same time! HOHOHOHO!

Narrator: And thus concludes the amazing adventures of the RGSSBees. (Music stop)

Then everyone come out and bow!
